Do CEOs have the right to privacy? CNN Money’s Fortune 500 has an article about the right to information vs. the right to privacy — who should prevail?
Since Apple’s very own Steve Jobs has run into medical problems, Apple’s stock prices have been yo-yo’ing.
From pancreatic cancer, to a common bug, to a problem regarding weight loss, to some more vague references, and then finally to a harmone inbalance, it’s no wonder why investors want an answer as to what is going on with Apple’s chief visionary.
But it’s difficult to balance the investors’ right to know vs. Jobs’ right to privacy.
Or is it?
Jack Coffee, a Columbia law professor states that certain legal principles apply:
“One is that if a company does discuss a CEO’s health issues, its disclosures must be ‘full and accurate’ … In other words, you can’t lie.”
